All about Each Hospice
The Eersterust Association for Community Health (EACH) is a non-profit organisation established in 1992 and is situated in Pretoria. The hospice was formed in response to an increasing need to provide health care to predominately terminally ill patients for Eersterust and the surrounding areas. The initial service provided was homebased care which later expanded to hospice care when the facility was completed in 2002. EACH is a tax exempted, non-profit organisation authorized to issue Section 18A SARS exemption certificates.
EACH provides a ten-bed in unit service and home based care for the patients discharged from the hospice. Both palliative and step-down care are provided to patients from the following disadvantaged communities in Eersterust, Sunvalley (Mamelodi), East Lynne, Jan Niemand Park, Kilner Park, Meyers Park, and Silverton. Patients are also referred to EACH from Pretoria Academic Hospital, Steve Biko Hospital, clinics, hospices, doctors and communities and as such EACH also serve patients outside its initial catchment area. EACH is the only hospice in the area that provides in-care treatment for HIV/AIDS, Cancer and other terminally ill patients.
EACH mostly renders community healthcare to individuals who are from previously disadvantaged communities, but the facility is open to all referrals, provided they meet the criteria.
